Update:

The third major of the 2025 season is well underway in women’s golf, with the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at the Fields Ranch East course at PGA Frisco in Texas running from Thursday, June 19 to Sunday, June 22.

Tough opening round at PGA Frisco

The opening round proved to be a challenging task for the 155-strong field, with just two players - Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul and Minjee Lee of Australia - breaking 70.

Only 12 others, including Lexi Thompson and Angel Yin, were under par by the end of play on Thursday, while poor Alison Curdt, an LPGA and PGA Master Professional playing in her eighth PGA Championship, shot a 20-over par 92.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda carded a level par 72 to start round two four shots off those at the top of the leaderboard.

Projected cut at the 2025 KPMG Championship

As is standard for LPGA Tour events, along with the other four majors on the women’s circuit, there is a cut at the end of the second round on Friday (provided there are no weather delays).

The top 70 players and ties will make it through to the weekend, with the projected cut currently at +4. However, the cut line is likely to change during the course of Friday depending on how the action develops out on the course.

2025 Women’s PGA Championship prize money

The 2025 Women’s PGA Championship offers a record-breaking prize of $1.8 million to the winner. This significant boost in prize money is part of the championship’s total purse of $12 million, making it one of the most lucrative events in women’s sports overall, second only to the U.S. Women’s Open.
