Where has the Solheim Cup been played over the years? List of venues
Team USA and Europe go head to head at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, with the Americans looking for a first win since 2017.
The Solhiem Cup, the ultimate team event in women’s golf, takes place every two years, although the 2024 tournament is an exception, coming just 12 months after the last meeting between Team USA and Europe at Finca Cortesin. The contest end in the south of Spain ended in a tie, allowing the Europeans to retain the trophy.
Of the 18 editions, no course has ever hosted twice, and that statistic will hold true for at least the next six years.
This year’s event will be played from 13-15 September at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, which former President of the United States Barack Obama became a member of in 2017. The course has previously held the Presidents Cup four times, as well as Tiger Woods’ Quicken Loans National on the PGA Tour in 2015.
The Solheim Cup will return to Europe in 2026, with the Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands chosen as the venue for the first time. Two years later, it will be the turn of Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, where the 2024 PGA Championship, won by Xander Schauffele, took place.
No further future events have been scheduled as yet, although tradition suggests more first-time hosts will follow.

The Solheim Cup: a brief history
Team USA have won 10 of their 18 previous tournaments, losing seven, with one tie.
The Americans won each of the first six editions that took place in the United States, but since have lost two of the last three, including at Inverness Club in Ohio in 2021.
While the USA came out on top in five of the first seven Solheim Cups after its foundation in 1990, the tide has turned in recent years. Since triumphing at Rich Harvest Farms in 2009, the States have lifted the trophy only twice, with their last victory coming in 2017.
