Who is the favorite to win the 2025 Masters at Augusta National? Predictions, expert picks
All eyes are turning to Augusta as the world’s best return to arguably golf’s most iconic stage, with several believed to be in contention.

There’s something about April in Augusta that makes even the most casual golf watcher perk up. The 2025 Masters is almost here, and with it comes the annual guessing game: who’s going to slip on that green jacket come Sunday evening?
Scheffler the obvious favorite
If you’re betting on experience and current form, Scottie Scheffler is your man. The 2022 and 2024 champion and current World No. 1 is once again the odds-on favorite, with sportsbooks listing him around +400 to +450 as we get into the month.
But is Scheffler really a safe bet to repeat?
History would say not really. The living legend that is Tiger Woods is the only man to have won back-to-back Masters this century, doing so in 2001 and 2002. Scheffler had his chance in 2023 but finished tied for 10th, a full eight shots back of Jon Rahm. And while he comfortably held off Ludvig Åberg last year to claim his second green jacket, a lot of money is likely to be directed elsewhere.
Who else is in Masters 2025 contention?
Rory McIlroy sits right behind Scheffler at +650. McIlroy hasn’t won a major in over a decade, but 2025 could be the year he shakes that off. Yes, we may have said that a number of times since 2014 but this time we can argue it’s different. He’s already notched up two wins this season, including The Players Championship, and he’ll be fired up to win at Augusta, the only major he’s never won. A green jacket would give him the career grand slam, putting him in elite company alongside Nicklaus, Woods, Hogan, Player and Sarazen.
Had to bring this one back to your timeline.

Then there’s Bryson DeChambeau, the former US Open champ who once claimed Augusta played like a “par 67” for him. His T6 finish in 2024 showed signs of growth, and he’s now priced at +2100 alongside Xander Schauffele. SportsLine’s model sees Bryson as a legitimate threat this year.
At the 2019 Masters, Bryson Dechambeau made his first ever hole in one on the 16th hole.

Is Augusta National the coolest place to make your first ace? It's gotta be.

Ludvig Åberg (+1700) also gets attention after his runner-up finish in 2024, while Jon Rahm – now a two-time major winner – shares the same odds despite inconsistent form since his 2023 Masters win.
