2023 Copa Libertadores draw summary: Groups, teams, fixtures and dates

The 32 teams involved in the 2023 competition discovered their group pairings in the draw held at CONMEBOL HQ in Asuncion.

The group stage for the Copa Libertadores 2023 has been decided after the draw for the most important club tournament in South America took place at the Conmebol Convention Centre in Luque, Paraguay on Monday evening.

Once again this year, the Brazilian teams are highly tipped to win the title with Flamengo, reigning champions, and Palmeiras, who won the two previous editions strong favourites. Serie A giants such as Corinthians, Fluminense and Atlético Mineiro will also be expected to progress from the group stage as Argentina’s Boca Juniors and River Plate are expected to contest this Brazilian dominance.

Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle and Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño are being cited as two potential surprise packages with all eyes on a place in the Rio de Janeiro final on 11 November.

Group stage dates

The first round of the group stage will be played from Tuesday 4 April with games taking place during April, May and concluding in late June.

Libertadores 2023: standout group stage ties

Some of the matches that stand out in the group stage are the Group A clash between Flamengo - Racing along with the River Plate- Fluminense Group D clash along with a classic Colo Colo - Boca Juniors.

Both Groups G (with two Brazilian teams) and Group H stand out as being potentially the most complicated and competitive.
