Alphonso Davies’ Bayern Munich future up in the air

Davies could be entering his final year with the Bundesliga champions.

Real Madrid are looking for a left-back and Alphonso Davies is one of the club’s main targets. With the arrival of Fran García, it appears that the position will be covered for next season, but Ferland Mendy’s future remains up in the air, which would open up the Davies option.

A move for Davies this summer does not appear likely as the Canada international has a contract at Bayern Munich until 2025. If he does not renew his current deal, 2024 will be one year away from the end of his contract in Germany and will be Bayern’s last chance to cash in on him.

Chaos at Bayern

His agent, Nedal Huoseh, has spoken about the situation at the German club and has ruled Davies out of signing an extension for the time being. “It’s a chaotic time at Bayern Munich. I’m not sure what’s going on and who we will talk to. There seems to be too much instability and uncertainty about the direction of the club. Maybe it is better if we wait until 2024 to renew and see how things develop with the club before moving on to a new contract.”

Madrid monitoring the situation

Bayern, who won the Bundesliga title on the last day of the season, want to renew the player knowing that Madrid are interested in him, but Davies’ agent is leaving the option open for him to leave the club next summer.

Real Madrid will be keeping a close eye on him and if the player finally leaves Bayern, the LaLiga side will try to sign him. They will not be alone in the race, however, as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are also interested in his situation.
