Real Madrid’s busy physio room is beginning to empty out. The club and medical staff are confident about the positive physical evolution of both Güler and Tchouameni, and as such they have drawn up schedules that could see them reappear for the last home game of 2023, on December 17 against Villarreal.

Their recoveries are going at a remarkable pace and the intention is that the players will kick-off the tearing down of the list of absentees (Modric, Kepa, Camavinga, Vinicius and Carvajal are yet to reappear) that put the squad onto red alert during the past weeks.

If they are not available for the tie against Villarreal at the Bernabéu, the club will be more cautious. The last match of the year is on December 21 at Mendizorroza against Alavés, with the weather a big factor against them.

Madrid set for frosty welcome vs Alavés

The weather forecasts for that weekend against Alavés point to minimum temperature of up to one degree below zero, something that Ancelotti complained about before the match against Granada. If they do not play against Villarreal, the reappearances of the Frenchman and the Turkish player would be pushed back to January 3, in Madrid against Mallorca.

Arda Güler’s strong recovery is being received with smiles and open arms in Madrid given the tight schedule, but the nature of the injuries of both Tchouameni and Güler make the club cautious to the extreme. The French international’s stress fracture is not a physical issue that is usually known for being friendly to shortcuts; in the case of the Turkish midfielder, the risk is even greater because this will be his fourth attempt at making his debut with Madrid.

Fourth time’s the charm for Güler

Güler’s debut as a Madrid player is still on the club’s to-do list. His aim is to step on the pitch in a white shirt before the end of this 2023, the year in which he signed for the club, but the medical staff will have the last word. The club has been willing to listen to the decisions taken by the young Turkish footballer, who is eager to play.

His three injury spells since he signed his contract (preseason and meniscus cleaning operation in the summer, the muscle injury in September and the current one, which occurred in November) have forced Madrid to take a cautious approach. Now, it looks like things are turning round.
