The relationship between Cruz Azul and Augusto Lotti appears to have come to an end. According to various reports, the Argentine striker is set to leave the club. The Liga MX club are keen to return to the transfer market in search of a forward who meets the team’s expectations and to do so must free up one of the places reserved for foreign players who have not come through the youth system in Mexico. The the board of directors decided that Lotti would be sacrificed and begin the search for a replacement.

According to journalist César Luis Merlo, a deal is already in place between with Lanús, for Lotti to join the Argentinean club on loan for one season with an option to buy him at the end of the agreement.

Lotti joined the Cementeros for the Clausura 2023 tournament but failed to meet expectations. In 22 games played, he contributed just three goals which prompted the club to look for someone whose qualities lend themselves more to the restructuring project that the board of directors has in mind.

Cruz Azul have until the end of August to make the final reinforcements to the squad, given that these are the last days to buy and sell players. before the transfer market closes It is believed that the 27-year-old striker, who spent a couple of seasons in the Swiss league on loan with Wohlen, was presented with several options to play in other leagues - including Azerbaijan.
