Barcelona one game away from reshaping El Clásico history with Real Madrid
Barça could enter a decisive Clásico with the LaLiga title in sight and a rare milestone within reach.

Barcelona may be out of the Champions League, but the season is far from over. The Catalan club still has plenty to play for down the stretch, including an increasingly realistic shot at a 29th LaLiga title.
There is also another major storyline building: a Clásico on May 10 that could decide the league and reshape the record books in Spain’s most famous rivalry.
Clásico with historic stakes
The upcoming Clásico carries unusual weight. If Hansi Flick’s Barcelona win, they would not only move within reach of the LaLiga title but could also secure the championship mathematically.
At the same time, victory would bring another milestone. It would move the two giants level in all-time Clasico wins, with each club sitting at 106 victories, alongside 52 draws.

The road to the showdown
Before that decisive meeting, Barcelona face Celta Vigo at home, then travel to play Getafe and Osasuna.
Real Madrid’s path includes a home match against Alavés at the Santiago Bernabéu, followed by trips to Real Betis and Espanyol.
If both teams win out, Barcelona would enter the Clasico with a nine-point lead. In that scenario, a victory would clinch the title on the spot. Even a draw would leave the championship nearly decided, although Barcelona would still trail in the head-to-head tiebreaker after Madrid’s 2-1 win in the first meeting.
A rivalry measured in trophies
Beyond the league race, there is another layer to the battle: the all-time trophy count.
If Barcelona win LaLiga, they would reach 104 official trophies, just one behind Real Madrid’s 105.
In LaLiga championships, Madrid still lead 36 to 29 if Barcelona complete this season’s title run. In the Champions League, the gap is even wider, with 15 European Cups for Madrid compared to five for Barcelona.

Barcelona hold an edge in the Copa del Rey, 32 to 20, helping balance the broader rivalry.
In other competitions, the margins vary: Barcelona lead in Spanish Super Cups 18 to 14, while Madrid have two UEFA Cups to Barcelona’s four European Cup Winners’ Cups. Madrid also lead in Club World Cups, nine to three, and European Super Cups, six to five.
Across other historic tournaments, including the Copa de la Liga and the Latin Cup, both clubs have added to a shared legacy that spans nearly 125 years.
What comes next
If Flick’s Barcelona complete the LaLiga charge, the Spanish Super Cup would offer the next opportunity to shift the balance again. In a rivalry defined by fine margins, it could take both clubs to a level 105 major trophies each, underscoring just how evenly matched this historic duel has become.
