Still, they’ve bounced back superbly, losing only two of their subsequent 12 games in the Premier League. This run included crucial wins over top-four rivals Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton. Other than a home defeat to Arsenal, the Magpies have been in superb goalscoring form of late, posting two 4-1 wins (vs the Seagulls and Everton), a 5-1 victory (against West Ham), and a 6-1 triumph (over Spurs) in the last few weeks.

In any of the last 15 years, Chelsea would be odds-on favorites to see off Newcastle comfortably. That, however, is not the case this season, with Eddie Howe’s men very much on the up and the Blues in a state of disarray.
