Christian Pulisic stats with USMNT: goals, assists, games...

Pulisic and the United States are set to face Germany in a box-office international friendly in East Hartford on Saturday.

Christian Pulisic is poised to win his 63rd cap for the United States men’s national team on Saturday, as Gregg Berhalter’s side host four-time World Cup winners Germany in a glamour friendly.

Pulisic, 25, has scored 26 times in his 62 international appearances so far. He has also provided 16 assists for the Stars and Stripes.

When did Pulisic make his international debut?

It was a German who gave a 17-year-old Pulisic his debut for the USMNT. Indeed, when then-head coach Jürgen Klinsmann introduced the forward in a 4-0 win over Guatemala in March 2016, he become the youngest ever USMNT player to appear in a World Cup qualifier.

One of USMNT’s highest ever scorers

Pulisic bagged his first goal for the national side two months later, in a 4-0 friendly victory over Bolivia - and has since racked up a USMNT scoring tally that leaves him sixth on the list of the team’s leading marksmen.

The AC Milan star is just four goals behind fifth-placed Brian McBride, but remains some distance behind the USMNT’s joint-highest scorers, Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan, who both netted 57 times for their country.

  • Made debut in March 2016
  • Has won two Nations League titles

Regular USMNT captain

Nicknamed ‘Captain America’, Pulisic has regularly skippered the USMNT. When he wore the armband for the first time, as a 20-year-old in a friendly defeat to Italy in November 2018, he became the youngest captain in the USMNT’s history.

Although the USMNT’s failure to reach the 2018 World Cup meant Pulisic missed out on going to Russia, he started all four of his team’s games at Qatar 2022, as the Americans reached the last 16. He was not chosen to captain the team in the Middle East, however: midfielder Tyler Adams was given the nod.

Injury issues have prevented Adams from appearing for the USMNT in 2023, though, so Pulisic has been captain in all but one of his international run-outs this year, most recently in a 4-0 friendly win over Oman in September.

With Adams also unable to make the squad for October’s games, Pulisic is in contention to lead the USMNT once more against Germany.

What trophies has Pulisic won with USMNT?

During his seven-and-a-half year international career, the former Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea player has won two CONCACAF Nations League titles. He scored an extra-time winner as the USMNT won the competition’s inaugural final against Mexico in 2021, before helping the side to retain their crown against Canada in June.

Pulisic was also a runner-up with the US in the 2019 Gold Cup, losing to Mexico in the final.
