CONCACAF and CONMEBOL to play match of legends in Copa América event

Prior to the Copa América, the two confederations of the American continent will play this exhibition match.

For years, the relationship between CONCACAF and CONMEBOL has been growing, and in 2024, there will be a new edition of the Copa América featuring teams from both American confederations. Currently, the two football organisations are arranging a legends match with several former players of international renown.

Legends prepare for CONCACAF - CONMEBOL clash

The draw for the continental tournament is scheduled for 7 December, and as part of the event, the legends match will take place at DRV PNK Stadium, the current home of Inter Miami. The names of the players participating in the match have not been disclosed yet, but it will include players from various nationalities.

Among the players considered historic by CONCACAF are Jorge Campos, Hugo Sánchez, Landon Donovan, Alexis Lalas, Carlos Pavón, among others. On the CONMEBOL side, potential participants could include Carlos Valderrama, Iván Zamorano, Diego Forlán, Cafú, Juan Arango, Juan Román Riquelme, Ronaldinho.

The legends match is expected to be an integral part of the festivities leading up to the draw for the new edition of the Copa América. The continental tournament will once again feature 16 participating teams, with 10 from CONMEBOL and six representing CONCACAF.
