The reports surfaced during the first leg of the Liga MX Clausura 2026 quarterfinals, where Club América and Pumas UNAM battled to a high‑octane 3–3 draw.
Photos and videos posted by attendees showed loose concrete scattered across the stands, fueling concerns about spectator safety.

So far, no injuries have been reported. Still, the images have intensified criticism of the stadium’s condition, especially given its high‑profile renovation ahead of major international events.
Neither stadium officials nor local authorities have released a detailed statement addressing the complaints. In the meantime, the incident has reignited debate over construction quality and oversight at one of Mexico’s most iconic sports venues.
