The Portugal captain posted a heartfelt tribute after Jota and his brother died in a car crash in Spain.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s emotional reaction to tragic death of teammate Diogo Jota: “It doesn’t make sense”

Cristiano Ronaldo has posted an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota after the 28-year-old Liverpool and Portugal forward died alongside his brother in a car accident in Spain.
Jota and his younger brother André were killed when their Lamborghini veered off the A-52 highway near Zamora in the early hours of Thursday. Local authorities believe a tire blowout caused the vehicle to lose control while overtaking, before it caught fire.

Cristiano: “It doesn’t make sense”
Ronaldo wrote in his native language: “It doesn’t make sense. We were just together with the national team, you had just gotten married. To your family, your wife and your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you’ll always be with them.”
He ended with: “Rest in peace, Diogo and André. We’ll all miss you.”
Jota had just married Rute Cardoso on June 22. They leave behind three children under the age of five. Tributes have poured in from Liverpool and across the football world.
