Dean Huijsen injured in Real Madrid warmup: what injury does he have?

Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen went down injured during the warmup ahead of El Clásico, forcing manager Álvaro Arbeloa to make a late decision and push Raúl Asencio into his starting XI.

The club from the capital have had a turbulent week in the days before the biggest game in the world, and Huijsen’s injury only adds to their woes.

Huijsen’s absence is just the latest in a long line of injuries for Madrid, including Mbappé, Rodrygo, Güler, Carvajal, Ceballos, Mendy, and Militão all out with various physical issues. Fede Valverde is not in the squad as he is recovering from an altercation with teammate Aurelien Tchouaméni earlier in the week.

Is Huijsen injured?

Shortly after kick-off, it was reported that Huijsen was suffering from a cold over the past few days, and did not feel fully up to the game.
