Monterrey showed inconsistencies throughout the season, and advanced to Liguilla playoffs having to play two Play-In matches, and securing eighth place. Their Liga MX failure comes after the star studded team was eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions Cup in the Round of 16.

Demichelis failed to last a year in the position after he arrived in August 2024 to replace Fernando Ortiz and initial impressions to the Argentine were positive, as he led the club to the Final of the Apertura tournament, which they lost to Club América.
The club have invested in bringing in the likes of Sergio Ramos, Sergio Canales, Óliver Torres, Lucas Ocampos, among others.

Next up for Monterrey is a Club World Cup campaign next month as the search for a new head coach begins. Previously linked Julen Lopetegui has taken over with the Qatar national team and names such as Hernán Crespo and Domenéc Torrent have also been linked with the now vacant monterrey bench.
