Dusseldorf Arena to host USMNT-Japan September friendly

Gregg Berhalter’s side will face Japan in Germany four days before taking on Saudi Arabia in Spain as part of preparation ahead of the World Cup.

The United States will play two friendly matches on European soil in September giving coach Gregg Berhalter a final opportunity to look at his squad with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar looming on the horizon.

The first of these tests will see the USMNT face Japan in Dusseldorf (Germany) on 23 September with the game set to take place at the home of Bundesliga II side Fortuna. The JFA (Japanese Football Federation) have confirmed that the match a the 54,000 capacity Merkur Spielarena will kick-off at 2:45 pm (CEST / 8:25 am ET).
