With just 72 hours to go before the polls open, Real Madrid’s members are set to decide who will lead the club for the next four years: incumbent chief Florentino Pérez, or challenger Enrique Riquelme. The campaign is in full swing, with each candidate taking a distinct approach.

“The best”

A host of former Madrid players have lined up behind Pérez - and the latest to do so is Gareth Bale. The Welshman, a marquee signing by the current president back in 2013, posted a photo on social media alongside Pérez with a simple message: “The best.” Bale is the latest high-profile ‘addition’ to Pérez’s bid for the presidency.

Host of former stars show Florentino support

Pérez has gathered a star-studded backing. Bale isn’t alone in publicly voicing his support. Karim Benzema, Casemiro, Lucas Vázquez, Nacho Fernández, Carlo Ancelotti, and Luka Doncic are also among the ex-Madrid soccer and basketball figures who, despite no longer being at the club, have come out in support of Pérez’s candidacy.
