CRISTIANO RONALDO

Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo the only person to hit Instagram milestone

Not even Inter Miami attacker Lionel Messi can keep up with the Al Nassr striker on the social media platform.

No player has scored more goals in the history of soccer than Cristiano Ronaldo, and nobody on the planet is more popular on Instagram than the former Real Madrid star either. The Al Nassr striker has reached 600 million followers on the social media platform, becoming the first person to do so.

Ronaldo hoping to win first trophy with Al Nassr

Things are also going rather swimmingly for the Portuguese on the field at the moment, with his team having made it through to the final of the Arab Club Champions Cup against Al Hilal, where he could win silverware for the first time since moving to Saudi Arabia at the start of the year. With Sadio Mané, Marcelo Brozovic and Seko Fofana having all recently left top European leagues to join the Riyadh-based club, Al Nassr will be hopeful of upsetting their city rivals.

Ronaldo has played a big part in his team’s run in the competition, netting four goals in five matches, including a crucial late equaliser against Egyptian club Zamalek which ensured the Saudi side qualified for the knockout stage.

The ex-Manchester United star then opened the scoring in the quarter-final tie against Raja Casablanca of Morocco, and netted the only goal of the semi-final versus Iraqi side Al Shorta.

Only 90 minutes - and perhaps penalties - separate Ronaldo from his first trophy in Saudi Arabia (which would probably be more cause for celebration than hitting 600 million Instagram followers).

Who are the next most followed soccer players on Instagram?

There’s normally not too much to separate Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, although on this occasion, there are 118 million followers. The Inter Miami star is next on the list with 482 million, followed by Neymar (211 million) and Kylian Mbappé (107 million).

Which Instagram account has more followers than Ronaldo?

Only one account has more follower than the Portugal captain’s and that’s Instagram’s official account, which has 651 million (which shouldn’t really count, should it?).
