How many times has Erling Haaland scored in a debut game?
The Norwegian striker found the net on his debuts with Molde, Salzburg in his first Champions League game, Dortmund and now Manchester City.
Erling Haaland scored his first goal as a Manchester City player in the 12th minute against Bayern Munich, continuing a trend that he has taken from club to club since his energence as a youth prospect in Norway. Haaland scored on his senior debut for Molde, in his first league game for Salzburg (and also his first Champions League game), in on his debut after moving to Germany to join Dortmund and now on his first appearance with his new team, Manchester City.
Molde Fk signed Haaland in 2017 from Byrne of the Norwegian Second Division. That season, the forward alternated between the reserve team and the first team, coached by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The former United manager handed Haaland his debut with Molde in the Norwegian Cup and within 47 minutes he scored his first goal in senior football at just 17 years old.
With his next team, Salzburg, Haaland did not score on his debut, but he did score in his first start in the Austrian Bundesliga and on his Champions League debut, during the 2018/19 season, in a group stage match against Genk. Salzburg beat the Belgian side 6-2 with Haaland helping himself to a hat-trick on his first appearance in his favourite competition.
Haaland’s Dortmund triple crown
His arrival in Germany was a resounding success, and the staging ground for Haaland to prove himself as one of the best strikers in Europe. The Norwegian famously scored on his debut in the three competitions Dortmund were involved in: the DFB Pokal, the Champions League and the Bundesliga. Having got off the mark on his debut with Manchester City, Haaland will be hoping to do the same in his first official match when City take on Liverpool on 30 July in the Community Shield.
