Julián Quiñones’ name is starting to gain real traction in Europe - specifically in the Premier League - after a historic season with Al Qadsiah. The Mexican forward has found the back of the net 28 times, firmly establishing himself as one of the most lethal strikers in his league.

According to reporting from 365Scores, three storied English clubs are closely monitoring Quiñones. Those same reports indicate that initial contact has been made with Al Qadsiah to explore a potential move ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The Saudi club, fully aware of the form and market value of their star attacker, are said to have placed a price tag of around €20 million on him. That figure would represent a significant profit, considering Al Qadsiah signed Quiñones for €13.8 million from Club América in the summer of 2024.

How many Mexicans have played in the Premier League?

A possible Quiñones move to the Premier League would place him among an exclusive group of Mexican soccer players who have tested themselves in English soccer. Over the years, several have left their mark - some more successfully than others.

One of the early pioneers was Jared Borgetti, who played for Bolton Wanderers during the 2005-06 season. He was followed by Nery Castillo, whose stint at Manchester City (2007-2008) was brief but notable. Shortly after, Giovani dos Santos wore the colors of Tottenham Hotspur from 2008 to 2012.

During that same period, Carlos Vela was on the books at Arsenal and also spent time with West Bromwich Albion. Guillermo Franco featured for West Ham United in the 2009-10 campaign, while Carlos Salcido suited up for Fulham. Pablo Barrera also had a spell with the Hammers.

One of the most successful cases is undoubtedly Javier Hernández. “Chicharito” shone at Manchester United before going on to return to England with West Ham. Miguel Layún later joined Watford, although his time in the Premier League was short-lived.

In more recent years, Raúl Jiménez established himself as a cornerstone player for Wolverhampton Wanderers and now continues his Premier League career with Fulham. Edson Álvarez has represented West Ham, while Julián Araujo is currently plying his trade with AFC Bournemouth.
