Jude Bellingham spoke to Real Madrid after being awarded the club’s Mahou Five Star Player Award for the 2023/24 season.

A sensational first season at the club saw him score 23 goals in 42 games, as well as 13 assists as he drove the side on to win the Champions League, LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup.

‘Every time I go out there I feel blessed’

“I’m really proud to win this in my first year” he admitted, “I’m very happy and I’m extremely grateful to the fans for choosing me. I’m really happy to be here and to be part of this family. I hope they enjoyed watching me play. It’s been a great year”.

The Englishman has become a fan-favourite at the club after just one season: as well as his performances on the pitch, the effort Bellingham has shown to integrate himself into the culture is something that has turned the fans on his side.

The love he has for the club and his teammates is something clear to see, and also something he expressed after winning the award: ”To be honest, I love every minute and every second of being here. It’s hard to pick one word or one sentence that can describe it. Every time I go out there I feel blessed. It’s an honour to play with these players, with this team”.

On which was - among many - his best moment in a Madrid shirt, Bellingham found it tough to choose: ”I’ve got a few highlights. My first goal against Barcelona, from outside the area, was a real highlight because it got us back in the game after being out of it. I really enjoyed that goal. I also love the goal against Napoli, with the dribble”.

Now, he has Euro 2024 to contend with. Bellingham will lead England from the midfield as they look to win the tournament for the first time in the country’s history. After that he will rejoin his teammates in Spain before they head off the United States for pre-season ahead of the 24/25 campaign.
