Barcelona target Wesley a star of the Brazil under-20 team
Reports in Brazil claim that the two clubs are already in talks over a deal for the teenager, who has made four appearances for the Flamengo first team and has starred for Brazil’s under-20 side. Any potential transfer would see Barça pay a fee to take Wesley on loan for a year and have the option to sign the player permanently for a set price at the end of his loan spell. Flamengo own 70% of the defender’s economic rights.
Globo Esporte claim that the Brazilian would train with both the Barcelona first and B teams for the remainder of the 2022/23 season and would initially play for the latter, with Xavi Hernández able to call upon him should he need cover at right-back.
Wesley recently signed a two-year extension to his contract with Flamengo, which runs until the end of 2025. He made his professional debut in December 2021 and appears to have attracted plenty of attention in South America and further afield.
