Liga MX final tie-breakers: What happens if the Clausura final ends in a tie?
UNAM Pumas and Cruz Azul are battling to be crowned Mexican champions.

The 2026 Liga MX Clausura reaches a thrilling climax on Sunday evening for the second leg of the final. UNAM and Cruz Azul go head-to-head. After a goalless draw in the first leg, there’s everything to play for.
With the higher-seed tiebreaker only used in playoff rounds prior to the final, the Liga MX title will be decided strictly on the field in Ciudad Universitaria.
Any win, regardless of the scoreline, will hand either Pumas or Cruz Azul the Clausura 2026 crown. If the second leg remains level after 90 minutes, it will go to extra time. Should the deadlock persist after the additional period, the championship will be decided by a penalty shootout.
