Luis Enrique’s salary with PSG: How much money does the coach make in Paris?

Luis Enrique, who leads Paris Saint-Germain into a heavyweight Champions League semifinal against Bayern Munich this midweek, is poised for a bumper pay rise if he extends his stay in the French capital.

“Best coach in the world”

According to the well-connected French newspaper L’Équipe, PSG are ready to hand the Spaniard a pre-tax annual salary of around €20 million ($23 million) should he renew his current contract, which expires in June 2027.

The 55-year-old, who took over as PSG head coach in 2023, currently earns a reported €12m gross ($14m) in Paris.

“We are building a long-term project with him […],” club chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has said of the Gijón native. “We have the best coach in the world.”

Luis Enrique’s mooted new salary would take him into a wage bracket occupied by soccer’s very highest-paid coaches - figures such as Atlético Madrid’s Diego Simeone ($28m a year) and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola ($25m).

Talk of a major pay hike for Luis Enrique comes just under 12 months after he ended PSG’s long wait for a European title in spectacular, historic fashion.

In their second season under the former Barcelona boss, the Parisians lifted their first ever continental crown by demolishing Inter Milan in last May’s Champions League final, romping to a 5-0 win in Munich.

Powered by a two-goal display from Man of the Match Desiré Doué, the rout represented the widest margin of victory in a European Cup final since the tournament’s inception in 1955.

Now, having breezed past Liverpool in this season’s quarterfinals, PSG remain on course to become only the second team - after Real Madrid in 2017 and 2018 - to retain the European Cup since the competition was rebranded as the Champions League in 1992.

PSG host Bavarian giants Bayern in the semifinal first leg tonight, before going to the Allianz Arena for the return in eight days’ time. A final clash against Arsenal or Atlético, in Budapest on May 31, awaits the winner.

Domestically, meanwhile, Paris are on course for a fifth straight Ligue 1 title. After a 3-0 win over Angers at the weekend, they hold a six-point lead over second-placed Lens, with only three rounds of matches still to play.

In the first leg of the 2025/26 Champions League semifinals, PSG and Bayern meet today, Tuesday, April 28, at Parc des Princes in Paris, France. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET/12 noon PT.
