Man United losing patience with Chelsea over Ziyech

Ziyech is key to Ajax agreeing to allow Antony join United, has a difficult return to Amsterdam.

Hakim Ziyech is the key to unlocking a deal involving three clubs: Manchester United, Chelsea and Ajax. Chelsea manager Thomas Tüchel has shown little faith in the Moroccan international at the start of the season - handing him just 26 minutes in the game against Leeds, Ziyech’s only appearance so far after the first three games of the Premier League.

Ajax and Chelsea have spent weeks negotiating the return of the left winger to his former club. He started to get noticed with Ajax in 2019 in the side that was on the verge of making it to the Champions League final. In Amsterdam, the idea is a loan, but in London, they want to recover most if the fee they paid for the player in 2020 - a sum close to the 44 million euros. But Chelsea’s high demands, together with the player’s generous salary, complicate the operation for Ajax according to Voetbal International and De Telegraaf.

With the operation to take Ziyech back to Ajax on hold, it makes it difficult for Antony to get his dream move to Old Trafford. United already have an agreement for a five year contract with the Brazilian winger but Ajax has not yet accepted the offer. While the Eredivisie champions wants to tie up a substitute, Antony is putting pressure on the club to accept United’s proposal. Ten Hag is starting to get impatient with a signing that he considers to be an absolute priority with just six days before the market closes.
