Mané set to miss the first leg of the Champions League tie against PSG
Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed the loss of the Senegalese forward for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
The first leg of the Champions League round of 16 between PSG and Bayern Munich will now take place without two stars. One day after PSG confirmed the absence of Kylian Mbappé due to a muscle injury he suffered during the recent victory against Montpellier, Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann made it clear that Sadio Mané was not fit to play either.
Nagelsmann ‘hopes’ for swift return
“I hope he returns in mid to late February, but probably not for the first leg against PSG”, were the words of Nagelsmann about the fibula injury that already deprived the player of being present at the World Cup in Qatar. “We want to integrate him into the team around 21 February. We are very happy with how things have gone so far,” he stressed.
When asked about Mbappé's loss, Nagelsmann added: “I don’t think he will miss the game. I hope he plays. I don’t know what he has. The statement on the PSG website is quite imprecise. I can’t imagine him missing the game.”
