NWSL 2025 features strong Latin America and Caribbean presence
The National Women’s Soccer League kicks off the 2025 season next week with 13 teams battling to take the crown from Orlando Pride.

This will be the last season where the league features 14 teams with both the Boston and Denver franchises set to commence competing as of the 2026 season. Defending champions Orlando kick-start the action on Friday as they welcome Chicago on Friday night with Brazilian striker Marta still a pivotal figure for the Pride and one of the leading Latina players that play in the NWSL.
Fresh from their win in the NWSL Challenge Cup (the traditional season curtain raiser) on Friday (March 7) with a penalty shoot-out against Orlando, Washington Spirit too commence their season next Friday night with a trip to face Houston Dash.

The final round of the regular season will culminate on 2 November 2025 and the top eight sides progress to the playoffs.
Latina/Carribean presence in the NWSL
Eleven NWSL teams have a total of 26 Latino and Caribbean players; Portland Thorns FC is the team with the most representatives from this group with four players and teams such as Angel City, Bay FC, Chicago Stars FC, do not have any players hailing from South America.
