Ciudad de México Update:

Mexican soccer icon Oribe Peralta — remembered for his starring roles with Santos Laguna, Club América, Chivas, and especially for delivering Mexico’s historic Olympic gold in London 2012 — made headlines again after appearing on Paulo Chavira’s TikTok show El Show del Gordo. The former striker took part in a brutally honest segment that quickly went viral.

During the interview, Chavira challenged Peralta with a game called “Who’s Better and Who’s Not,” asking him to compare himself to a list of well‑known players. The rules were simple: answer with complete honesty about who, in his view, “doesn’t measure up” in terms of talent and performance.

Peralta revisits his legacy — unfiltered

Names like Rafael Márquez came up early, and Peralta didn’t hesitate, saying confidently that he was the superior player. He gave a similar answer when Rafael Sóbis was mentioned. Mauro Boselli, however, earned a more cautious response, with Peralta acknowledging the Argentine’s major impact in Liga MX.

He also praised the skill and adaptability of Darwin Quintero, Héctor “Chucho” Benítez, and Humberto Suazo — though he didn’t necessarily place any of them above himself.

Facing the big names: Borgetti and Raúl Jiménez

When the conversation shifted to the heavyweights, Peralta took a more respectful tone. Asked about Jared Borgetti — a legend at Santos and one of Mexico’s greatest scorers — Peralta didn’t hesitate to call him an “idol,” recognizing his massive legacy in Mexican soccer.

On Raúl Jiménez, Peralta highlighted the Fulham striker’s quality and insisted that fans often underestimate just how good he is, calling him a player on “another level” and a key figure for Mexico heading into the 2026 World Cup.

Oribe Peralta says he’s better than ‘Chicharito’

The most talked‑about moment came when Javier “Chicharito” HernándezMexico’s all‑time leading scorer — entered the conversation. Peralta paused, acknowledged Chicharito’s more associative style of play, and after some playful pressure from the host, laughed and said “yes,” implying he sees himself as the better player. The clip exploded across social media.

The show wrapped with Paulo Chavira praising Peralta’s career and calling him a “Mexican soccer legend,” closing an interview filled with nostalgia, bold statements, and plenty of respect between stars.
