Pedri injured: how long is Barcelona midfielder out for? What is the injury?
The midfielder suffered an injury ahead of Barcelona’s LaLiga game against Almería. Here is the latest.
The year could not have ended worse for Pedri. The midfielder again suffered some muscular discomfort during Barcelona’s morning training session on Tuesday, forcing the player to abandon the training session, as reported by Mundo Deportivo and soon confirmed by AS.
He will definitely miss Wednesday’s match against Almería as well as the friendly in Dallas against Mexican side Club América. At the moment the likeliest date for him being back fit is for the Las Palmas game on January 4.

Pedri suffering three-year cycle of injuries
However, Pedri’s history of muscular injuries forces the club to be very cautious when it comes to giving predictions: unfortunately for the player, the real recovery times tend to take longer than the initial estimates, so a level of caution is being expressed in this case.
What is clear is that Pedri has not fully emerged from the downward spiral of injuries and setbacks that he has been suffering for three years. This season he has already been out for almost three months due to an injury in his right thigh - now he has suffered another blow to his season.
Which Barcelona players are injured?
Xavi goes into the game against Almería with a new last-minute absence for the game; Pedri joins Gavi, Ter Stegen, Iñigo and Marcos Alonso, all of them in the physio room, as well as Frenkie de Jong, who is suspended.
This means that only thirteen first-team players will be available in the Barcelona squad. Today, the team trained with a total of ten players from the first team, who will probably - hopefully - all be in the squad for the next match.
Barcelona play Almería on Wednesday, December 20, with kick-off at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
