Pep Guardiola drops a huge hint on his post-Manchester City plans
The Catalan coach has revealed what he plans to do once he leaves Manchester City.
T.S. Eliot said the world may end not with a bang, but with a whimper. City’s might end in a relegation. And now, to add more nerves to the situation in England’s north-west, Pep Guardiola, the manager who made sure they had both hands on the trophies and not just a tentative finger of hope, has spoken about leaving the club.
The Catalan coach appeared on the podcast Desmontadito, hosted by Dani García, where he was asked about his plans for the future, to which he spoke openly about a post-City life.
What did Pep Guardiola say about managing a team after Manchester City?
“I’m not going to manage another team (after Manchester City). By that I’m not talking about the long-term future, but what I’m not going to do is leave Manchester City and go to another country and do the same as now", he said.
“I just wouldn’t have the energy. The idea of starting somewhere else, the whole process of training and so on... No, no, no! No, no, no! Maybe in a national team, but that’s different.”
On retirement, Guardiola said he’d retire now, if he could: “I’d leave (football) and go play golf, but I can’t. There will come a time when I feel it’s enough and then I’ll quit for good." It doesn’t seem like that time is now, however.
As for the right now, City have fallen behind in the Premier League title race after a string of results has seen Liverpool run away at the top of the table. They have won just 1 in 9 games in all competitions, including damaging defeats against Bournemouth, Sporting CP and the aforementioned Liverpool.
