Lionel Messi will officially leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, to the surprise of nobody. Speaking before the Ligue 1 champions’ final match of the season against Clermont Foot, manager Christophe Galtier confirmed the departure of the Argentina captain, who spent two seasons at the club.

Galtier“The best player in the history of soccer”

“I had a privilege of coaching the best player in the history of soccer. Saturday will be Leo’s last match at the Parc des Princes against Clermont”, was Galtier’s tribute to the Ballon d’Or winner.

Al Hilal, Barcelona or Inter Miami?

Where Messi goes next has already been the topic of debate for months on end, although we are no closer to having a definitive answer. The former Barcelona superstar reportedly has an obscenely lucrative offer on the table from Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Barcelona are desperate to re-sign him but their financial viability plan for the new season hasn’t yet been given the green light by LaLiga, which means they can’t sign new players just yet, while Inter Miami have also been linked in an attempt to accelerate the growth of MLS.

A report in French outlet L’Équipe this week even suggested that Barça and the Herons could work together to ensure they both taste a slice of the Messi pie. In any case, all we really know, as of today, is that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner won’t be in Paris in 2023/24.

How much did Messi earn at PSG? How much is he worth?

According to various sources, Messi’s fixed salary in his time at Paris Saint-Germain was €35 million per year, which works out at around $37.5 million. However, he earns a considerable amount more from different bonuses and adds-on included in his contract, as well as image rights, endorsements and cuts from jersey sales.

How much could Messi earn at Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia?

All in all, his net worth his been estimated at $600 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth, around $100 million more than the next soccer player on the list, Cristiano Ronaldo. No matter where Messi goes next, that’s unlikely to drop off any time soon, although a move to Saudi Arabia would certainly keep him at the top for a while longer; Al Hilal are willing to pay him $548 million per season to move to the Middle East, according to L’Équipe. The two-year deal reportedly on offer would therefore be worth more than $1 billion.
