Pumas poised for complete clearout: an entire 11 could leave
With the start of the Apertura 2025 fast approaching, Pumas have already confirmed five exits - and more may well follow.

With just one week to go before the start of the Liga MX’s Apertura 2025 tournament, opinions among Pumas fans are sharply divided. Some supporters are frustrated that only one signing has been announced so far, while others are thrilled - because that lone addition is none other than Welsh international Aaron Ramsey.
Alongside the buzz surrounding Ramsey, fans have also voiced strong opinions about who should stay or go amid ongoing transfer rumors. Some are calling for a complete overhaul, while others advocate for continuity.
Pleasing the Pumas faithful is no easy task, but one thing that deserves credit is head coach Efraín Juárez’s decisiveness - a willingness to make choices that others might have shied away from.
With the new season just days away, Juárez and the club have undertaken a near-total revamp of the squad. So far, five departures have been confirmed, and according to multiple sources, up to six more could follow.
Confirmed departures:
- Michell Rodríguez
- Ali Ávila
- Lisandro Magallán
- Ricardo Galindo
- Rogelio Funes Mori

Players no longer in the club’s plans:
- Robert Ergas
- Leo Suárez
Both Ergas and Suárez were excluded from preseason activities and have been informed they are no longer part of the team’s plans. The club is currently awaiting offers for them, but if none materialize, their contracts will be terminated once replacements are secured.
Pending negotiations:
- Piero Quispe
- Ignacio Pussetto
- Alex Padilla
- Jorge Ruvalcaba
These players could be on the move if suitable offers arrive. Padilla is reportedly close to returning to Athletic Club in LaLiga. Pussetto is in talks for a potential swap involving Álvaro Angulol a defender at Argentinian club Independiente. Ruvalcaba is on Toluca’s radar, and Quispe has reportedly drawn interest from another team in Argentina, Huracán.
