Real Madrid possible starting lineup against Elche in LaLiga EA Sports
Trent may return to the starting lineup against Elche, while Valverde may play on the right wing and Camavinga in the double pivot.
Real Madrid play this Sunday at 3:00 PM ET at the Martínez Valero Stadium against Eder Sarabia’s Elche in the thirteenth round of LaLiga EA Sports, with few changes expected to the starting eleven. Xabi Alonso’s only alteration from the final match before the international break, the goalless draw in Vallecas, is likely to be the inclusion of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Englishman is now fully fit. Xabi Alonso confirmed this in his pre-match press conference: “Without a doubt, we have used this break with Trent to train more, both individually and collectively, to get him back in shape after his injuries. Obviously, with him in better form, we have more options to play in that position.”
Against Rayo Vallecano, Fede Valverde filled that role. Against Elche, the Uruguayan is expected to push forward again, but not into his natural position in midfield. The Falcon will once more take to the right flank, but this time as a winger. Brahim Díaz, who operated in that role against Iñigo Pérez’s side, would be the only player to drop out of the starting eleven.
Eduardo Camavinga is set to take on Tchouameni’s role. Real Madrid’s number 6 knows he has another chance. More than an opportunity to impress, it has become a crucial examination: he must show that he can lead the midfield when his compatriot is unavailable. It is yet another test for a player of huge talent and high expectations, who would form a double pivot with Arda Güler.
In defence, with several absences at centre back, Xabi Alonso has limited options. Asencio, keen to seize his chance as he did in Vallecas, and Huijsen, who is being managed carefully after joining up with the Spanish national team but not playing due to muscular discomfort, are expected to start. Álvaro Carreras would, as usual, complete the defensive line by starting on the left.
Therefore, the likely starting XI for the manager is: Courtois; Trent, Huijsen, Asencio, Carreras; Güler, Camavinga; Valverde, Bellingham, Vinicius; Mbappé.
