Real Madrid vs Elche preview

Real Madrid

Los Blancos will host Elche in LaLiga after winning their fifth Club World Cup title with a 5-3 win over Saudi club Al Hilal.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men will now focus on the domestic competition, where they need to defeat their opponents on Wednesday to shorten the distance with leaders Barcelona to eight points.

Real Madrid are huge favorites to come out on top, but the current LaLiga titleholders struggled recently, recording one win, one draw, and one defeat in their last three LaLiga matches.

Los Merengues will need to find their best form as soon as possible, as they will play Liverpool at Anfield next Tuesday in a game that could prove crucial for the Spanish giants’ fate this campaign.

Elche

Meanwhile, Elche desperately need to get a good result, as they are sitting bottom in the standings with only nine points from 20 games.

Los Franjiverdes won their first game in the competition this season against Villarreal (3-1) in their last game, but that won’t be very useful if they can’t keep grabbing points in their future games.

Besides being the worst team in the tournament so far, they are quite far away from the other relegation-zone teams, as the Alicante squad is 10 points behind second-bottom Getafe and 12 points away from safety with 18 games remaining. Elche are the worst defensive team, having conceded 40 goals.
