Sadio Mané ruled out of World Cup
Sadio Mané will miss the World Cup in Qatar with Senegal and Bayern Munich confirm that he has undergone surgery.


Sadio Mané has been ruled out of the World Cup with Senegal.
Senegal’s team doctor confirmed the news on Thursday in what is a major blow for the country ahead of the tournament in Qatar.

Mané damaged a fibula bone in his right leg during Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga clash with Werder Bremen on 8 November.
“I prefer to keep him in the squad because he is such an important part of us,” admitted boss Aliou Cissé when the Senegal squad was announced.

Mané undergoes surgery
As reported by Bayern Munich, Mané underwent successful surgery in Innsbruck by Prof Christian Fink and Dr Andy Williams from London on Thursday evening.
During the operation, a tendon was reattached to the head of his right fibula. The Bayern forward will begin his rehab in Munich in the next few days.
Senegal begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on Monday. Cissé's side will later face hosts Qatar and Ecuador in Group A.
