Sergio Ramos has passed a medical in Madrid ahead of a move to Rayados in the Mexican league. The former Real Madrid defender reportedly spent more than 5 hours undergoing various tests before being given the green light to cross the Atlantic to sign for his new club.

Since leaving Sevilla last summer, Ramos has been without a club. During his absence from football he has been very public in terms of documenting his training regime, keen to prove to clubs across the world that at 38-years-old his fitness is not a cause for concern.

The defender won 22 trophies at Real Madrid, including guiding them to 4 Champions Leagues and 5 LaLiga titles, becoming one of the all-time great defenders in the club’s history. His move to Rayados comes as an unexpected development in his stellar career that had recently seen him linked with various other clubs.

Serial tweeter and modern day transfer guru Fabrizio Romano posted online: "Sergio Ramos to Rayados, here we go! Pre-contract signed today, he’s set to travel to Mexico for formal steps.

“After Sevilla chapter, Ramos will play in Mexican league as he joins on free transfer.”
