Tigres injury update: Gignac will play against Orlando City

Tigres kicked off the week preparing for their Concacaf Champions Cup match against Orlando City with the good news that they will have André Pierre-Gignac in their squad, as confirmed by Robert Dante Siboldi.

The Frenchman has successfully overcome a hard blow to his right knee, and the coach confirmed his presence in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the competition. “André is fit and ready to play tomorrow,” said the experienced manager.

Likewise, the Uruguayan highlighted that his side will have to improve their accuracy, a factor behind their wobbly results, despite everyone agreeing that there has been an improvement in their performance.

“The last few results have not been what we would have liked, but there is always a positive and negative balance, they have not been favourable, but the positive thing is that we have been improving, I remember the first half against Toluca, the great match we played against América, but the ball did not want to go in.”

“Against América we had a lot of the ball and arrivals into their attacking third but we lacked the precision, cool heads and calm to put the ball in the net. The match against América is a reflection of what can happen against Orlando, we have to strike at the right moment in front of goal if we want to have a complete match”, he said.

Fernando Gorriarán also spoke to the media, when he chose to bluntly categorise Tuesday night’s match at El Volcán as “do or die”. “I feel it is a game of life or death, it is kill or die, there is no tomorrow, it is the most important game and we will try to play it in the best way.
