Weir signals Real Madrid exit as Bellingham leaves heartfelt message
The Scotland international shared an emotional Instagram post looking back on some of her greatest moments at Real Madrid. Sunday’s game against Granada is set to be her final appearance for the club.

Hundreds of messages of support, including one from Jude Bellingham, have flooded Caroline Weir’s emotional Instagram post as the Scotland international looked back on some of her most memorable moments in a Real Madrid shirt.
The post effectively confirms the 30-year-old’s departure from the club after four seasons, bringing an end to a remarkable spell in which she became Real Madrid Femenino’s all-time leading scorer. Sunday’s match against Granada (6 a.m. ET) is expected to be her farewell appearance in front of the Madrid fans.
Set to Dreams by Irish band The Cranberries and accompanied by a white heart emoji, the video features some of Weir’s most important goals for the club. Among them are the strikes that helped send Madrid to their first-ever Copa de la Reina final during her debut season in 2022-23, as well as goals from last season’s historic 3-1 victory over Barcelona at Montjuïc, the club’s first win over its biggest rival.
Love for Madrid’s Weir
The post also highlights several of her closest teammates, including captain Misa Rodríguez, who is also expected to leave Madrid this summer, along with Alba Redondo, Linda Caicedo and Eva Navarro.
Former teammate Carla Camacho, now with Brighton, also features prominently. Camacho and Weir shared a difficult journey back from ACL injuries after both suffered torn anterior cruciate ligaments during the 2023-24 campaign.
Current and former teammates, friends, fans and fellow professionals all left messages beneath the post, which carries all the hallmarks of a farewell announcement.
Bellingham’s message for Weir
Among them was Jude Bellingham, who replied with a goat emoji, a nod to the “GOAT” label reserved for the greatest of all time.
And Weir’s numbers certainly support the tribute.
The Scottish midfielder will leave Real Madrid having scored 62 goals in 124 appearances despite missing an entire season through injury. She also recorded 40 assists, just one shy of Athenea del Castillo’s club record.
As Real Madrid Femenino’s all-time leading scorer, Weir departs as one of the most important players in the club’s history and a true club legend.
