What happens in case of a tie in the Copa del Rey?

We’ve seen plenty of Copa action this week and the fun is not stopping at 90 minutes.

It all looked so simple for Real Madrid. They were 2-0 up at home in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 with Celta Vigo looking like going out and home to Galicia with their dreams of a trophy shattered.

Vini Jr, Mbappé, Modric and Lunin had all starred, with Asencio at the back and Tchouaméni more than enough in midfield.

And then a mistake from Camavinga allowed Celta to score, before a penalty error from the young centre-back saw the Galicians equalise...

Cup ties to be decided on the day

If the games end in a draw, at the end of 90 minutes, 30 minutes of extra time will be played, consisting of two 15-minute periods. If there is still no winner, a penalty shootout will then follow. Whatever happens, there will be a winner on the day.
