What is Kylian Mbappé’s record at the Santiago Bernabéu? PSG games, goals, assists

Mbappé will make his home debut for Real Madrid against Valladolid, but has already played at the Bernabéu for PSG in the Champions League.

Kylian Mbappé will make his home debut for Real Madrid in Sunday’s LaLiga fixture against Real Valladolid but already has plenty of experience of playing at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu having done so on three occasions with former club Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Mbappé's overall record against Real Madrid for PSG

During Mbappé's seven years in the French capital, Madrid and PSG were drawn together on three occasions, facing each other six times (three in Spain, three in France). The 25-year-old played in five of those games and enjoyed a certain amount of individual success against his current employers, scoring three goals, although he didn’t register any assists.

His overall record was one win, one draw and three defeats, which includes a draw and two defeats in Spain.

Two of his goals came in his three appearances at the Bernabéu, which shows he already knows where the goal is at his new home.

Having failed to score in his first appearance in the Spanish capital in the Champions League round of 16 in 2017/18, he returned with PSG in the 2019/20 group stage in November 2019. After Karim Benzema had put the hosts 2-0 up with just over 10 minutes left to play, it looked as if the three points would be staying in Madrid.

However, Mbappé capitalised on a defensive mix-up to prod the ball into the net from close range in the 81st minute, with Pablo Sarabia levelling the match two minutes later.

The former Monaco attacker was also on the scoresheet at the Bernabéu in the second leg of the round of 16 two seasons later in March 2022, racing onto a through-ball and firing low past Thibaut Courtois to put PSG 1-0 ahead in the 39th minute, and 2-0 up on aggregate.

The French side looked to be in total control but succumbed to one of Madrid’s famous comebacks, which came totally out of the blue thanks to Benzene’s second-half hat-trick.

Mbappé's other goal for PSG against Real Madrid was a 94th-minute winner in the first leg of that tie at the Parc des Princes, the only time he was on the winning side in five matches against Real Madrid.

No Mbappé, no problem for PSG

Interestingly, PSG’s best result against Los Blancos in that period came in the one game Mbappé missed. On matchday one of the 2019/20 group stage, former Madrid winger Ángel Di María scored twice in a convincing 3-0 win for the Ligue 1 side in Paris.
