As two of the four best-ranked nations in the CONCACAF Rankings, Mexico and Canada don’t enter the new CONCACAF Nations League until the quarterfinals, which get underway in November. As a result, they each have friendly games in September and October, including Tuesday’s meeting at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The countries had contrasting fortunes at the recent 2024 Copa América, with Mexico eliminated in the group stage and Canada reaching the semifinals, even though both collected four points from their three group games.

In their first September friendlies, Mexico recorded a 3-0 home win over New Zealand, with Canada claiming a historic victory away to neighbours the United States.
