Which Liga MX teams are in the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2027? Qualifiers as it stands
Among Mexican clubs, only two spots remain in next year’s edition of CONCACAF’s elite men’s club competition.

The 2027 CONCACAF Champions Cup now has four confirmed Mexican participants. Chivas Guadalajara and Cruz Azul have officially clinched qualification on points, joining Toluca and Tigres, who had already secured their places as the finalists in Liga MX’s Apertura 2025 tournament.
Thanks to their respective totals of 64 and 63 points during the 2025/26 Mexican league season, Chivas and Cruz Azul are now mathematically out of reach atop the annual table. Even with two matchdays still to be played in the Clausura 2026, América (56 points), Pachuca (53) and Pumas (51) can no longer catch them in the overall standings.

The fight for the final two spots
With four teams already locked in, there are still two places up for grabs to complete Liga MX’s representation:
- Who gets them? In theory, these berths go to the finalists of the current Liga MX tournament. That means any team that qualifies for the playoffs and reaches the final could punch its ticket, regardless of its position in the overall table.
- What if already-qualified teams reach the final? If Toluca, Tigres, Chivas or Cruz Azul end up contesting the final this tournament, the remaining places will be awarded based on the best annual point totals.
That scenario keeps hope alive for América, Pachuca and Pumas, who now need the league leaders to continue advancing deep into the postseason. Doing so would open the door for them to qualify via aggregate points for the region’s top competition - one that also carries with it a pathway to the next FIFA Club World Cup.
When is the 2027 Champions Cup?
The 2027 edition of the CONCACAF Champions Cup is scheduled to kick off in February next year.
