Inter Miami’s opponents in the round of 16 of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup have been confirmed after Nashville SC had no difficulty in seeing off Moca in round one, defeating the Dominican side 4-0 at Geodis Park to complete a 7-0 aggregate win. The Coyotes will now be out for revenge against Lionel Messi’s Herons, who defeated them in the 2023 Leagues Cup final.

By lifting the first trophy in their history, Messi, Suárez, Busquets, Alba and Co weren’t involved in round one and were one of five teams given a bye to the round of 16.

What prizes does the CONCACAF Champions Cup winner receive?

“We have the huge challenge that is the ConcaChampions, which seems to be, because of the prize that’s on offer, the most important competition we are playing in,” said Inter Miami head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino in mid-February.

The winner of the tournament will receive over $5 million in financial distributions and prize money, which CONCACAF say is a five-fold increase on the amount on offer during the CONCACAF Champions League era. They will also compete in the new 32-team FIFA Club World Cup, which begins in 2025.

Inter Miami - Nashville: schedule, tiebreakers, semi-final opponents...

The first leg of the two-legged tie will be played at Geodis Park on Thursday 7 March, with kick-off at 9:00 p.m. ET. Inter Miami will then host the return leg at Chase Stadium on Wednesday 13 March, with that game starting at 8:15 p.m. ET.

If the scores are level after 180 minutes, away goals will be used as the first tiebreaker. If the two teams are level on away goals, extra time (two periods of 15 minutes) will be played, followed by a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

The winner of the tie between Inter Miami and Nashville will progress to the quarter-finals, where they will face either Liga MX club Monterrey or 2023 MLS Supporters’ Shield winners Cincinnati.
