París (Francia) Update:

Paris Saint-Germain has already begun work on a new contract for Luis Enrique, moving quickly to secure the coach who delivered the club’s long-awaited Champions League title.

Negotiations, first reported by RMC Sport, are underway to extend the Asturian manager’s stay in the French capital. Luis Enrique is said to be fully committed to the project and has no intention of entertaining offers, including from the Premier League, where he has previously expressed interest in coaching someday.

A long-term deal with elite status

The proposed extension could run through 2030, likely structured as a two-year deal with an option for a third season. It would also include a significant pay raise, placing Luis Enrique among the three highest-paid coaches in world soccer.

While finances are not his primary motivation, PSG sees the raise as recognition for the flawless job he has done since arriving in 2023, a tenure that reached its peak with the club’s first Champions League triumph in 2025.

Total control and total trust

Just last February, PSG extended Luis Enrique’s contract through 2027. Now, the club is looking to double down on what it sees as a winning formula.

Inside the organization, he is viewed not only as the best coach in the world but also as the central figure of the entire project. Every major decision runs through him. No signing is made without his approval, and his influence has elevated nearly every player he has managed over the past three seasons.

Priority number one in Paris

Securing Luis Enrique’s future is the club’s top priority.

PSG’s rise to the summit of European soccer, becoming both Champions League winners and arguably the most dominant team in the world, is widely credited to his leadership. Since his arrival, the club has won nine trophies, including the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup, while establishing a clear, modern identity on the field that sets the standard across Europe.

Talks progressing without urgency

Negotiations are still in the early stages, but both sides share the same goal: reaching an agreement.

There is no rush. Luis Enrique’s current deal runs through next year, giving both parties ample time to finalize the details. Still, all signs point to a contract extension being completed in the coming months.

Chasing more history in Europe

For now, Luis Enrique remains focused on finishing the season as strongly as possible.

PSG is on the verge of reaching its third consecutive Champions League semifinal, and the club has a chance to win the competition back-to-back, a feat achieved in the 21st century only by Real Madrid.

The numbers, the trophies, and the trajectory all point in one direction. Luis Enrique has already cemented his place as the most successful coach in PSG history, and he is determined to keep building his legacy in Paris.
