El lunes 11 de julio 2022 se batió el récord de goles marcados en un partido en la EURO femenina. Fue en el segundo partido de fase de grupos entre Inglaterra y Noruega. Las inglesas, anfitrionas, venían de ganar por tan solo 1-0 a Austria, pero sacaron toda la artillería frente al rival aparentemente más difícil del grupo. El equipo de Sarina Weigman salió con todo y en solo media hora ya ganaba 3-0. Pero esto no se quedó aquí y antes del descanso la cifra aumentó a 6 goles. La superioridad era tal que tanto Beth Mead como Ellen White se fueron al descanso con un doblete cada una. En la segunda mitad, las británicas levantaron el pie del acelerador, pero aun así marcaron 2 goles más y Beth Mead consiguió un hat-trick.

England head coach Sarina Wiegman announced her squad for the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand on May 31 and has had to deal with the huge absences of both Beth Mead and Leah Williamson, who did not make the final list due to injury.

Despite the absences, Wiegman has a team with experience and youth that has already had a taste of winning a major international trophy: England come into the showpiece event as European champions.
