France kick off their campaign towards the world title on June 20 and the team of 26 players has been announced ahead of the start of the training camp. The huge absences that have hit the French squad in the build-up to the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand have been covered up by manager Hervé Renard with some surprising inclusions.
The European team are in Group F alongside Jamaica, Brazil and Panama, meaning that while progression through to the knockout rounds is expected, it is by no means guaranteed. Despite the difficulty the group presents for the side that have not had it easy over the past few years, the squad is bursting with talent and will want to go far in the tournament.
