The 2026 FIFA World Cup knockout stage is rapidly taking shape, with most Round of 16 spots now confirmed and just a handful still up for grabs heading into Friday’s final Round of 32 fixtures.
Thursday’s action completed several high-profile matchups, as Spain, Portugal and Switzerland all secured their places in the next round. With only three matches left to play, the bracket is nearly complete.

Teams that have advanced to the Round of 16
The following teams have officially booked their places in the Round of 16:
- Canada
- Brazil
- Paraguay
- Morocco
- Norway
- France
- Mexico
- England
- Belgium
- United States
- Spain

- Switzerland
Spain advanced with a convincing win over Austria, while Portugal survived a tense battle against Croatia. Switzerland also moved on comfortably, defeating Algeria to secure its place.

Teams eliminated from the tournament

Confirmed Round of 16 matchups

- Paraguay vs. France
- Brazil vs. Norway
- Mexico vs. England
- Portugal vs. Spain
