Ecuador at World Cup 2026: roster, list, players, group stage schedule and results

Ecuador unveiled its 2026 World Cup squad on May 31, announcing the 26 players chosen by head coach Sebastián Beccacece for La Tri’s fifth tournament appearance.

Who is on Ecuador’s World Cup 2026 roster?

Ecuador’s roster is headlined by the likes of Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo - a player who is undoubtedly one of the South American nation’s biggest soccer stars.

Beccacece’s squad boasts several top Europe-based talents. In addition to Caicedo, the list features standouts such as Paris Saint-Germain’s Willian Pacho, Arsenal’s Piero Hincapié, and AC Milan’s Pervis Estupiñán. The roster also includes several players well known to fans of Liga MX.

The most prominent representative of Mexico’s top division is Enner Valencia, the Pachuca striker and Ecuador’s all-time leading scorer.

Pedro Vite, who plays for Pumas UNAM and recently finished as a Liga MX runner-up, also earned a place in the 26-man squad. Defender Jackson Porozo, currently with Club Tijuana, is another Liga MX player selected by Beccacece.

One of the more unique cases on the roster is Jordy Caicedo. Although the forward currently plays for Huracán in Argentina, he remains under contract with Atlas of Liga MX and will represent Ecuador at the World Cup.

World Cup Group E - how things stand:

What does Ecuador need to qualify?

While the Germans have already clinched knockout-stage qualification as winners of Group E, Ecuador need three more points if they’re to reach the round of 32. If the Ivory Coast loses to Curaçao, a win will earn the Ecuadorians the group’s second automatic ticket to the knockouts. If the Ivorians avoid defeat, a win over Germany would not take Ecuador into the top two; however, La Tri would be likely to progress as one of the eight best third-placed finishers.
