USMNT confirm 2026 World Cup roster reveal: Date, time, how to watch
The United States will unveil its final World Cup squad in New York as Mauricio Pochettino prepares for the biggest tournament in USMNT history.
Unlike several other national teams, the United States has decided to wait before announcing its final roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. While Mauricio Pochettino’s squad is not expected to feature many major surprises, there could still be a few late twists before the final list is revealed, including the possible inclusion of Alejandro Zendejas, the Club América standout who has become one of the most influential American players in Liga MX.
The U.S., alongside Mexico and Canada, will co-host the 2026 World Cup, marking the first time in tournament history that three countries have shared hosting duties. The expanded competition will also feature 48 teams instead of the traditional 32, creating a dramatically larger tournament than fans have seen in previous editions.
USMNT roster announcement set for May 26
U.S. Soccer confirmed on social media that the final USMNT roster for the 2026 World Cup will be unveiled Tuesday, May 26, during a special event in New York City. The federation will host a fan festival leading up to the announcement, which will be broadcast live on FOX beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
Several familiar stars are expected to headline Pochettino’s squad, including Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, Chris Richards, Timothy Weah and Tim Ream. That core group has become the foundation of the Argentine coach’s plans heading into the tournament.
There are, however, some injury concerns. Johnny Cardoso and Patrick Agyemang are both expected to miss out due to injury, potentially opening the door for fringe players to make a late push onto the roster.
New York Fan Fest to kick off World Cup excitement
As anticipation builds ahead of the home World Cup, U.S. Soccer is turning the roster reveal into a full-scale celebration for fans in New York.
“Join us for free at Pier 17 for a festival of all things U.S. Soccer,” the federation said in its announcement. “Fans can look forward to food, music, giveaways, surprise reveals and more.”
The Fan Fest is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET, immediately before the official unveiling of the 26-man roster, which will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET.
For Pochettino, the event will represent one of the final major milestones before the United States begins its most anticipated World Cup campaign in decades, on home soil and under the spotlight of a global audience.
