Real Betis sign Chelsea midfielder Musonda on loan

Real Betis have tied up a loan deal for Chelsea attacking midfielder Charly Musonda. The Belgium under-21 international is one of the brightest prospects in Chelsea's development squad and featured for the Blues in pre-season but has grown disillusioned with a lack of first-team chances at Stamford Bridge and has opted to join the Liga side on a loan deal until the end of the season, with the option of a one-year extension. Musonda is expected to be unveiled by Betis before the weekend.

The promising youngster, 19, is a speedy attacker who likes to take on players and has an eye for a pass in the final third. Highly rated by Chelsea, Musonda is seen as a future key player at Stamford Bridge and the club are keen for him to gain experience.

Meanwhile, Betis' bid to sign Leandro Damiao has encountered several legal problems and appears to be dead in the water. The Brazilian striker, who is a free agent after leaving Santos, was in Sevilla this week and passed a medical at Betis, who are expected to be active in the final days of the window as they seek reinforcements to kick-start their stuttering season.

Barcelona defender Martín Montoya is close to agreeing a deal to move to the Benito Villamarín and Betis are hopeful of tying up that deal by Saturday.
